PRECISION WORK WITH A PURPOSE

OCD Precision provides complete precision rifle builds and focused gunsmithing services for competition, hunting, rimfire, centerfire, and other precision applications.

The service itself is only part of the conversation. The larger question is how that work supports the shooter, the application, and the finished system.

COMPLETE PRECISION SYSTEMS

A complete precision rifle is more than a collection of premium parts. The action has to lock and cycle consistently, the stock or chassis has to support the action in a repeatable way, the barrel and chamber contribute to cartridge fit and accuracy potential, and the rifle’s overall weight and balance affect how it settles, recoils, and handles. The rifle, intended application, and ammunition relationship can all be considered as part of the same system.

OCD Precision looks at those relationships together so improving one part of the rifle does not create a compromise somewhere else.

— System-level planning and tuning

WHY IT MATTERS

Excellent individual components do not automatically create a rifle that fits its purpose. Looking at the rifle as a complete system helps reduce movement, mismatch, and unnecessary compromise so fit, function, handling, and intended use work together more predictably.

Barrel and chamber work has a direct relationship to how the cartridge is supported and positioned, how the rifle locks up, and how consistently the bullet begins its path through the bore. Competition, hunting, suppressed use, and other precision applications can place different priorities on the project.

Proper headspace supports safe, reliable lockup and cartridge support, while suppressor-related barrel work depends on keeping the muzzle setup properly aligned with the bore for predictable mounting and function. OCD Precision starts with those priorities before deciding how the work fits the larger rifle.

BARREL & CHAMBER WORK

WHY IT MATTERS

This is one of the areas where very small inconsistencies can become visible downrange. Good barrel and chamber work supports repeatable cartridge positioning, reliable operation, and predictable behavior whether the rifle is used suppressed or unsuppressed.

ACTION & ACCURACY WORK

Some accuracy and consistency problems come from movement or poor mechanical relationships rather than the barrel itself. Bedding creates a stable, repeatable interface between the action and stock so the receiver is supported consistently as recoil is transferred through the rifle.

Action timing and tuning address a different part of the system: how smoothly and consistently the bolt opens, closes, cocks, and begins extraction. Properly addressed, these relationships can improve the feel and consistency of the rifle’s operation while supporting reliable lockup and ignition.

— Precision fit and tolerance-focused work

WHY IT MATTERS

These services are not magic accuracy buttons. Their value is removing mechanical inconsistency: keeping the action supported in the same position, maintaining repeatable lockup, and helping the rifle operate cleanly and predictably from one use to the next.

Customization can be functional, visual, or both. Barrel fluting removes material, which reduces weight and increases surface area. That can influence the rifle’s balance and handling while also giving the project a distinct appearance.

Fluting should not be treated as an automatic accuracy or stiffness upgrade. Other refinements should be evaluated the same way: does the change improve weight, handling, ergonomics, or another practical part of the rifle, or is it primarily an aesthetic choice? Both are valid, but they serve different purposes.

CUSTOMIZATION & OPTIMIZATION

WHY IT MATTERS

For a hunting or competition rifle, weight and balance can influence how the rifle carries, transitions, settles into position, and feels over a long day. The best customization is intentional: it either supports how the rifle will be used or is honestly treated as an aesthetic choice.

05 / THE CONNECTION

ONE SERVICE CAN STILL AFFECT THE WHOLE RIFLE

You do not need a full custom build for the system-level conversation to matter. Even focused work is easier to evaluate when the intended use, current setup, and desired result are clear.

Focused work can have secondary effects elsewhere in the rifle. A barrel change can move weight forward or rearward. Bedding changes how the action is supported. Suppressed use changes overall length and balance. Even cosmetic work such as fluting changes mass and surface area. Looking at the whole rifle before the job starts helps those side effects stay intentional rather than becoming surprises.

For an existing rifle, that can mean leaving components alone that already do their job and spending effort only where it changes the experience. For a new build, it means choosing tradeoffs before assembly instead of discovering them after the rifle is finished.

EASY QUESTIONS TO ASK

What is the rifle doing now?
Describe the current setup or issue.

What do you want it to do?
Explain the desired result in practical terms with a specific purpose.

How will it be used?
Competition, hunting, suppressed, or other defined applications that affect the overall system.

NOT SURE WHICH SERVICE FITS?

You do not need to diagnose the project before reaching out. Start with the rifle, the intended use, or the result you are trying to achieve.
